Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 28, 2026

Numetric ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our AI-powered math tutoring platform at numetric.com.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name and email address through Clerk, our authentication provider. We do not store your password — Clerk handles authentication securely.

Usage data. We collect the math problems you submit, the solutions you receive, hints you request, and bookmarks you save. This data is stored to power your session history, study guides, and mastery tracking.

Analytics. We use PostHog to collect anonymized usage analytics (page views, feature interactions). No personally identifiable information is shared with PostHog beyond what you explicitly provide.

Device and log data. We automatically collect standard server log data including your IP address, browser type, and request timestamps. This is used solely for security monitoring and debugging.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Deliver and improve the Numetric tutoring service
  • Generate personalized study guides, practice sets, and mastery insights
  • Maintain your session and problem history across devices
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset)
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your math problem submissions to train AI models without your explicit consent.

3. Third-Party Services

Numetric relies on the following third-party services to operate:

  • Clerk — authentication and user management (clerk.com)
  • OpenAI — AI-powered problem solving and step generation (openai.com)
  • Neon — managed PostgreSQL database hosting (neon.tech)
  • Vercel — hosting and edge infrastructure (vercel.com)
  • PostHog — product analytics (posthog.com)
  • Stripe — payment processing for institutional plans (stripe.com)

Each provider maintains its own privacy policy. Your math problem content is transmitted to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI's API usage does not use inputs for model training by default per their data processing agreement.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account and session data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information and session history within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
  • Opt-out — opt out of analytics tracking via your account settings

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@numetric.com.

6. Children's Privacy

Numetric is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.

7. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted database storage via Neon, and access controls on all internal systems. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of Numetric after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
